DUBROVNIK – DESIRABLE WEDDING DESTINATION

DUBROVNIK POPULAR IN JAPANESE MEDIA

The team of a Japanese wedding magazine 25 ans Wedding whose 16 – page report on Dubrovnik was published in July, visited Dubrovnik in May this year. Their stay here was organized by the Croatian National Tourist Board, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board and Dubrovnik Tourist Board .This luxurious magazine, the oldest in Japan, printed in 70 000 copies, has existed since 1986.
The number of newlyweds who say “yes” to each other every year in Dubrovnik is the best evidence for the city at the foot of Mount Srđ being the favourite wedding destination. Honeymooners in Dubrovnik have the opportunity to discover the magical ambience, great offer, romance at every turn and to realize the wedding of their dreams. Most foreign married couples are from Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Slovenia, Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are also a lot of Croatian citizens who opt for wedding outside the places where they live, so they get married right here in Dubrovnik, often in a narrow circle of friends, groomsman and bridesmaid. Since Japanese couples are really keen on getting married abroad after this tantalizing report we expect them in Dubrovnik!
Excellent tourist results have been recorded among Japanese visitors. Until August 7, 2012 Dubrovnik was visited by 23 086 Japanese tourists who realized 44 065 overnight stays; which is 39% more arrivals and 36% more overnight stays than during the same period last year. Tourists from Japan were the eleventh most numerous Dubrovnik visitors during the first half of the year.
Especially satisfying is the rise of Japanese media interest. This year in Japan, along with numerous newspaper articles, two tourist guides about Dubrovnik and Croatia were published, after a visit of their authors to Dubrovnik, organized by the Croatian National Tourist Board – representative office in Tokyo, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board and Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
Dubrovnik Tourist Board annually hosts dozens of TV crews and journalists from Japan. Currently Dubrovnik is hosting a Japanese TV team Asahi that is filming the show about sights, beauty and customs of Dubrovnik and its surroundings called Going on the roads of the world.
